I recently purchased a JD 4210 with 420 loader. I like it just fine, however the little use that I've had has me concerned with needing more power for future projects. Since I am within the dealers 30 day satisfaction guarantee I can move up to another tractor without taking a hit on trade-in. I am looking at the 4410 with e-hydro and 430 loader, and 4510 with power-reverser and 460 loader. I have operated both tractors and would like to get the 4510, but its large size worrys me that it might not fit into some areas such as my garage, or working in my orchard or around close to the house. With this being the only issue I am facing I thought maybe some of you could offer what you would do in my situation. Money is not an issue, having enough machine to do the job is. I would rather have it and not need it than not have it and need it. Comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome Brad to TBN....look forward to hearing more on your JD shopping adventures.

This also was a concern for me when I bought my 4710. JD has all the specs on the JD models....would suggest you obtain the dimensional specs and determine how they would be compatible with your garage opening and portions around your house. If garage opening is a concern, you can purchase the JD 4x10 series tractors with foldable ROPS. I have these on my 4710 and MUST fold them to put the tractor in the garage. Otherwise, the tractor would be outside all the time in all the elements.

Totally agree....would suggest then you totally upgrade to the 4710 which is not much bigger than the 4510 since money is not a concern. It has greater engine HP, greater engine torque, and greater PTO HP. And....if I can say from personal experience it's a real nice machine. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I agree with Bob. If money isn't an issue, I'd go with the 4710. That is if you can get around your place with it. The specs for the 4510 through 4710 are the same, except for HP and torque. I opted for the 4610 but the only reason was money was an issue.

If they are just too big, then drop down to the 4410. The 4410 has more torque than the 4510 and almost as much as the 4610.

I do love my 4610 and that ehydro is sweet.

Uh-oh. Here we go again. When comparing any JD's model specs be very careful to look for more than one source for the numbers. As has been discussed recently here and elsewhere - JD's printing department is in bad need of a proof-reader. The 4410 does not have more torque than a 4510 - they work out in nice order 4310, 4410, 4510, 4610... The 4410 does have more torque than a 4310 however, if you need a little more oomph.

4310/4410 whats the difference

Actually if you go by the specs in some of the 10-series brochures you might as well go for the 4710 - it's much smaller than the 4310 or 4410. One copy of the brochure I have says the overall length is just 71.5 inches! (Of course that's actually the wheelbase dimension /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

So just be careful putting too much into some of the numbers - especially if they seem a little odd.

I believe that the "84" series engines (4310/4510/4610) are a tiny amount more fuel efficient per horsepower generated than the big bore "88" series (4410/4710), but not enough you'd likely notice.

If money is not a concern, you might as well go for the top of the (JD) food chain and get the 4710. That way you'll never look back and wonder if you should have got more power. The 4510 isn't available with the eHydro, so I would not consider that unit in your shoes. Keep us posted
