A neighbor offered me what I paid 375 hrs ago for my 2210 so after many years of faithfull service I decided that it was time for a little more tractor. Went out looking for used 2520 or 4100 but stumbled on to this clean 4310 for a price I thought was a steal:

2002 John Deere 4310 Tractors - Compact (1-40hp.) - John Deere MachineFinder

It was evan at my prefered dealer! So after a little talking and 3 days of loader drama (dealer put 3 loaders on it in two days!) We finally got it set up with a 300CX / 61" HD bucket. Had it out doing road maintainence for about 10 hrs yesterday and all I can say is WOW what a difference! After the 2210 these hydraulics are spooky fast!

The only thing I miss is the tooth bar, so I picked up some teeth and shanks, just need to find the time to weld them to a new bar...

I expect you'll be really happy with that 4310. I always liked the 4300/4310 series machines and considered them one of the best Deere CUTs ever sold.
There are quite a few folks on TBN with the same tractor (mine, BTW, is a 4400...very similar machine with a few more HP), so you should have little trouble getting answers to any questions you may have.

Good luck and be safe (meaning, keep that ROPS up when operating)!

Thanks Roy! So far I have been very pleased with the new Deere. It is a LOT of tractor for the size! The extra power of the 4400 sure would be nice though..Didn't you used to have a 790?

I do have one question already: The 3 point seems slower than my 2210. It takes about 3 - 4 seconds to raise from all the way down to all the way up. It lifts fine, just a little slow. There was a little groan when raising the rockshaft, even empty, but that went away with the hydrostat fluid and filters change (ouch! Hy-gard went up $20 for a 5gal bucket to $76). There was very little trash on the magnetic drain plug or the sump screen but the fluid had over 400 Hrs on it and was a little dark. The loader and hydrstat work fine. Does the speed seem normal?

As far as the ROPS, Lets just say that I told my wife I would only drive the tractor into the shed once with it up....Didn't think it would be this soon - not much damage:mad: but it made a heck of a racket!!!Good thing I was going slow!

I had a 790 for about 6 years...great tractor, but I wanted more versatility with the transmission. The 4400 has a sync-reverser (12 speeds forward/12 speeds reverse).

My 3PH raises pretty fast...definitely less then 3-4 seconds (maybe 2 seconds). This is at 1500 RPM, BTW.
As far as your 3PH, try adjusting your rate of drop knob (on the panel directly below the seat). Technically, that should only affect the rate of drop or lock the 3PH in a specific position. But try it anyway. Also, exercise the rockshaft lever (raise and lower the 3PH several times). Can't hurt to try and won't cost you a dime. I suggest you idle the 4310 at about 1500 RPM for this...no less.
