You know, last week I was positive that my PT did not leak down if the engine was running. However, I had the brush hog on it last week, and I had it all the way up and it did come down a couple inches in the 5-10 minutes I had it up while I gave the blades a quick shot with the grinder (without getting under it, of course). So, I stand corrected. :eek:

A needle valve is just a fine adjustment valve. You could also just use a shutoff valve - a needle valve would allow you some adjustment to your flow - for example, i partially close mine to keep my loader controls from being too jerky if i am doing very sensitive work. A needle valve would also be gentler to your system if you closed it while there waqs flow. Either valve would go on the lines leading to your cylinders.

I thank you for the note. I was really thinking I had a problem with my valves as yours was not leaking down but now we know PT purchases cheap...

I think Tazwell would have an issue with that.

When I spoke with Terry, his comment was that you need to do something for the change in temperature. There are two solutions;
  • valves that leak, albeit slowly
  • double relief valves for over/under pressure situations
Either way, it is a safety issue that needs to be solved.

PT appears to have opted for the first, which does happen to be less expensive, but it is also simpler and doesn't require servicing to maintain it.

All the best,

Peter
