Uploading Picture

I am trying to upload to a new picture but I keep getting this error??

Warning: copy(/home/tractorb/tractorbynet.com/htdocs/forums/userpictures/5816.jpg): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/tractorb/htdocs/forums/changebasic.php on line 216

I have downsized the picture to 4.65kb and it still won't let me upload it?

I looked in the Faq's and I think I am following the right instructions.

Did you get your problem resolved involving "replying" to messages Murph? Do you think this latest problem might be related to the earlier ones? Just thinking... and that's dangerous sometimes!

I uploaded several pictures this afternoon and had no problems, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem.

Actually my replying to posts started working all by itself so I am not sure of what that is. I hope I did not mislead anyone, I can upload pictures to a post, the one I am trying to upload is the one to the left the post by my name, or do they call it your avatar?? Anyway right now I have the little tigger. Time to change it.

For a profile photo the size displayed is 80x80, so I'd reduce it with photo editing software rather than having your browser do the reducing.

Yes I am trying to replace it with this picture. It is only 6.0kb should it should be plenty under the 7.5.

I converted that file to a GIF with a transparent background so you don't see the white square -- I also made it 80x80 in size. It's attached.

So your telling me that alls I had to do was change it from a *.jpg to a *.gif?? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

No, that is not it. Profile pictures need to be small in size (not sure how small), so by reducing it to 80x80, it fit the bill.

I made it a .GIF so I could put in a transparent background on the edges (because the photo was not square) so that you would not see the border. If the photo could have been cropped square without losing some of Archie's head, I would have kept it as a .JPG.
