1980 kubota B7100-D
Hello everyone and this is my first entry after joining. I have a 1980 B7100D
Kubota. I have a bush hog I have never used and is different from the Tractor Supply one I have. Where the top link or center link is there is a long solid bar that mounts right below the center link and at the end there is a short chain and it hooks up at the back of the bush hog on the deck in front of the wheel. If I shorten the center link the wheel comes off the ground and if I go the other way and lengthen the center link all it does is push down on the bar and chain and will not raise the front of the bush hog up at all. I need help with this and appreciate any help you will give. First time with tractor, was raised on the side of a mountain no need for tractors they would just roll to the bottom. Thanks everyone.

There should be "play"/"Slack" with the top link. When you pick it up, it will tighten up.

I know where my rocks are so I don't hook up the top link. I only use the lower lift arms. If I need to miss a rock I raise the lower arms and ride on the wheel on the back of the mower.

That sound right. You adjust the front edge of the mower with the lift arm position. The lever on the right side of the driver seat lets you raise and lower the lift arms. The top link allows you to maintain the mower angle relative front to back and lift the entire mower deck off the ground.

Generally you set the mower on level ground and ensure the deck is level side to side. Then raise the mower to your desired mowing height and adjust the rear wheel so that it is touching the ground. Once the wheel is set, adjust the top link so that there is about a 45 degree angle of slack on the flexible/rotating connection. This allows the mower to ride up and down over bumps and dips instead of pushing the back of the tractor up and possibly damaging your top link or 3pt housing. The wheel on back keeps the deck from going down too far.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for the help and that really helps a lot. I have the tractor on the lower drive on concrete and has made it nice to hook up. I also found I have a problem with the lift arms leaking off and lowering the bush hog. That will have to be another project for winter. Dont know how hard it is to rebuild or at least put seals or what it needs. Anyways I appreciate the input from everyone.

You are welcome, I am not familiar with that tractor, does it have a position control 3PH?

Hello again, Not sure what that is, but the tractor is 31 years old and is 4x4 standard shift. Even though it is 31 it has been a world of fun and help. The 3pt. hitch is I guess the standard hitch. The only control I have from what I know is the lift control at the right side of the seat. I need to check and see if it has the adjustment under the seat to control the fall of the implements. If I understand that control correctly. The bushhog and I cant find the name on it is different than I have seen of all the rest. It is factory orange, and as I said it has the solid bar that goes from just under the center link all the to the back center of the hog and has a chain about 6 inches long attached to the end and the chain then is mounted on top of the deck right aobut where the mount is for the wheel on the back. If you know the name of bush hog or company that makes them that would be a big help. Thanks to you all for your help.
