What is the closest US version of the YM2210D?
And when they say the "closest" version what are the usual differences?
Are all service manuals and parts manuals created equal?
What are you opinions of the best place to get these manuals?
Now that some of these manuals are on CD seems that they could give us a substantial break on the price. In fact, it would be interesting to know the REAL legal implications of making copies of these CDs?
I got an 'OPERATION MANUAL" published by Murray Publishing (from Hoye Tractor) and was very disappointed in its content.
It was almost the worst 40 bucks I ever spent.
Thanks in advance for all the info.

Pird,

You have a grey market tractor...and reference material, that is translated from Japanese to English leaves much to be desired. Operation manual is not the same as a parts manual, with exploded views and relative parts numbers.

Did you express your disapointment to Hoye?

Frankly, the opinions, suggestions and answers to your questions seem to be ignored, or as you put it in another post, Being Chastiesed. Mostly I have read good advice, honest opinions and sincere positive suggestions concerning your tractor.

This is just my opinion of course, but Hoye, LMTC, Len Shaffer, Parker equipment, and many others contribute their time, many years of experience, and sound advice. The money you spent on the tractor should include any and all information from your dealer. You have a good tractor, but poor support.

Those cd's have come down in price....They say they have a copyright? You won't find an exact American cross of the 2210. No other tractor used the same motor. That early of American models did not have power shift. I have not seen a part that I can not get though. I would get the cd. It has the 2210 manual in Japanese. But the parts breakout has been translated. If you take something apart you can find the part number and order it. I know a girl who translates Japanese for JD. I plan on asking her to translate my manual but I bet it is a big job. I may never do it.....good luck to you....

I have a Japanese family member who works as a translator and she says the translation normally takes 2 people, the translator, and since a lot of Japanese words have no direct translation to English, someone who knows tractors.

I read the operators manual I bought from Hoye, I kinda liked it! Of course, not too deep in technical, but what I would've expected for an Ops manual. Plus, the diagram / cartoons are hysterical (e.g. tractor growling at operator trying to fill diesel while running, etc.). But, anyway... If I'm in the market to expand my reference library for my 1601, what manauls should I get? Shop and parts manual? Thanks guys.. -arthr

A parts manual is all you really need. It gives parts pictures, locations, and #'s, so all you have to do is take it apart and put it back together, (r & r).

The parts manual I got for my YM3000 is exact for this tractor. The Operation service manuals are for a YM330. A YM330 is close but not close enough to fully explain all controls features or the repairs to the YM 3000. They are better than nothing, and I understand that is what is available for the YM3000 in english, nothing. I truely beleave the dealer sold me the best he had for this tractor, but for the money you sure can ask for better!! Hope someone translates the Japanese manuals for these soon, would be a good business op for someone who speaks Japanese. But until we get there, I have what the dealer is selling and was greatfull to get what I got. You might ask the dealer who is offering, what tractor model # the manuals are exactly written for.

The closest US version is the YM240. The YM2210 is basically a YM2000 with a powershift transmission. The YM240 is the US version of the YM2000. Throttle works the opposite way & different # of pto speeds are the only differences between the YM240 & YM2000.

I looked at a ym2000 and did not think they were very similar.
I felt like my 2210 was bigger. I could be wrong cuz they were not side by side. The 2000 seemed much simpler in design. I would like to have one though......
