use a fullsize battery on a DR mower?

I am trying to revive a neglected DR field and brush mower. The DR has a small battery but it says it is 12V. The existing battery is dead, so while I wait for the trickle charger to charge it, can I use a fullsize auto battery for purpose of cranking the mower?

Yes. I did it many times when my DR battery was dead. I used jumper cables from the full size battery to the DR battery. BTW, they sure spin nice and fast with a full size battery.
