Hello, in the three point hitch there are two telescopic stabilizers, left and right. They have a few holes and one slot to insert the pin to limit the horizontal sway of the implement. My question is when to use the holes (min sway) and the slot (max sway). Thanks.

The slot is used when hooking up standard implements. It allows the arms to travel a bit to spread wide enough to slip to the outside of the implement's lower pins.

Most people just leave it there to allow for some sway or give so the implement or tractor are not damaged when something unforeseen is struck.

The other holes are for special applications or implements that are not of the standard construction.

Slots are used with implements which are ground engaging and need a limited amount of sway. Harrows, plows, subsoiler, etc... The holes are used when an implement will stay fixed and not sway. Mowers, scrapers, rear carrier, chipper, etc..
