Use Tractor Hydraulics instead of PTO pump.

I have a Koyker 140 Loader and The 3point hitch using the tractor Hydraulic pump. I have a PTO pump for my backhoe that came with the backhoe.
The tractor supplies plenty of power and I think flow for the Backhoe. What are the negatives in going to the tractor pump with the backhoe also?

I'd question whether your tractor will supply the flow your PTO pump does. But then,,,, you gave no specs as to either's capacity. Few years ago I built a 3pt wood splitter and used a 22 gpm PTO pump. No way my tractor would have ran that splitter as fast as the PTO pump. Give us some numbers as to your tractor's capacity and the PTO pump you are using??

Excluding flow capacity I don't see any negatives. Just don't plumb it in a manner that creates heat in your tractor's system.

Another consideration is contamination of your tractor's hytran fluid with the hydraulic fluid of the backhoe. Perhaps you are aware of the type of fluid in the backhoe and it is compatible with your tractor's system, but mixing the 2 if they are not is not a good idea. Hytran fluid won't hurt the backhoe but hydraulic fluid may void your warranty and damage the tractor.

This is an issue that I think of often. Last Spring I changed my hydraulic fluid (16 gallon) to synthetic Kubota SUDT2. Cost me a bit over $500. Then I hooked up to all my attachments over the Summer and contaminated my high dollar fluid. It's just the "nature of the beast".

Any tractor that uses multiple hydraulic attachments is cross-contaminated simply by the nature of the act.

Your tractor's hydraulics will run a backhoe fine, BUT the biggest negative is having to replumb your tractor for it. Stick with the external pump - the only downside of an external pump is cost, but you already own it. There is no sense spending the time and money plumbing in a rear power-beyond circuit for the 'hoe, then throwing away a pump that you already own.

The only issue with using your external PTO pump is that you will likely have to keep your back hoe connected all the time because you need the hydraulic reservoir to run the loader. Koyker makes a good loader. I hope it works out great for you!
