Used 54\" MMM Deck

Got a price of $800 or OBO for a used 54" with 150 hours on it. Any comments on the price?

New $1600 with tax.

Which model? There was a thread a while ago about certain models of JD decks being rather poor.

Wrong thread, i think we were discussing the attributes of the 60" VS 54" MMM. For just homeowner stuff the 54" is fine, for farm/heavy duty stuff the 300lb 60" is fine.

Nuru, mowing season will soon begin. In fact, if I wanted to I could go mow right now. I better go pull out the deck and check it over, oil, belts, etc. Here she is ready to go!!!!!! Yippee /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif . (sorry it is orange but it might offer ecouragement anyway)

The 54" deck is heavy enough for ANY turf-type mowing use, commercial or residential. For any heavier use than this deck can handle, you should use a rotary cutter, not a grooming mower.

Go for it!!

150 hrs isn't all that much. Just look it over real good. Make sure that the PTO gearbox is in good shape and that the welds look good. Check for excessive wear on the mounting areas. What about the mounting kit? Make sure you get that also.

Is it from a dealer or private? If its from a dealer, get as of a guarantee as you can!! If its private, spend time looking it over.

Tres, your unit looks very good. What do you do? clean, polish, wax, and balance that baby every season? It really looks good, even though it is desert camo extreme instead of forest green camo!
