I have been looking at the Kioti CS line. No drive over deck though. A 2014 1025R with 800 hours on it came up for sale. $10.4 seems a bit high for the JD. I can get the same configuration of a brand new Kioti for $12.5

Any significant issues I should be looking for on the used JD?

TIA!

The drive over decks are a bit misleading, you still have to get off and hook up the PTO shaft and carrier pins, no matter what brand it is.

JD 1 and 2 series tractor have had serious problems with the driveshaft Ujoints, the front one virtually impossible to service without removing a bunch of stuff. Mine on the 4010 (like a 2019E, if they made it) blew apart at 660 hours and 9 years. At that time, they did not have zerks on them, and JD did not recommend any service. Now, they've provided zerks on them and say to grease at 50 hours, but you cannot get to the front one. Cost me $470 to get them greased and PTO button replaced (another issue) at 200 hours ($120 of that was for them to get it and return it).

My 1025R (have a 2025R now, much like the 4010) in between was a real lemon. The only good things about it were the more comfortable seat and the gentle startup of the PTO.

Never used an underbelly mower to comment about that.

That may not be correct. If the 1025R has the auto connect pto option, then the deck is fully auto connect. The operator does not have to get off of the seat to connect anything.

The Kioti does not have a position control 3 point hitch.

I don't owner either tractor mentioned but my neighbors have two Kioti units saying they have been tough as nails tractors. I looked at the 1025R but quickly passed. I then looked at Kioti and was impressed with all the cast iron they have but ended up buying Kubota. Around here, there are lots of used 1025's for sale but few smaller Asian made tractors; and I live in a huge, huge Scut and Cut market but Asian made just don't come up often for sale and those that do are almost the price of new. I like the Kioti CS model having used the neighbors a time or two.
