2000 Power Trac 422
I am looking to buy a finish mower for my PT422. A friend bought one on Ebay for $150. (I will let him announce his name). He was the only bidder. This spoils my perception of the value of used attachments. In order to give me a more realistic appraisal of what the used attachments are worth, I ask that people tell us what attachments they bought or sold, what they paid for them, the age, and the original purchase price.

Thanks in advance for your participation.

When I first found PowerTrac it was a new 418 on ebay. Looking at the write up I found TBN and MossRoad. For the next year I faithfully watched ebay for any PowerTrac tractors to no avail. End result, I ended up buying all new.
Not sure but my guess is that this was a one time event as normally any PowerTrac attachments get advertised on this forum and go much higher.

I just don't think there's a big enough market for used PT equipment. Most people have heard of, for instance, John Deere but mention "Power Trac"...

Also conisider that the group that participates in this forum is pretty small (all things considered). PT must be selling much much more equipment than there are participants here. So those that don't know about this forum would have to resort to ebay to sell used PT products because, well, what else is there? Either way, it's a tough sell because the market (number of PT owners) is teeny weeny.

The long and the short of it, in my opinion at least, is that you don't buy a PT thinking there will be much resale value there. You need brand recognition for that.

I don't know the details on that mower but if the person selling the mower would have sold it here or on PT's web site surly it would have brought more. Especially if they were in no hurry to sell it. I'll just say your friend got a very very good deal. One persons loss another's gain!!

That sounds like a great price. I paid $1200 new for the 60" finish mower. I would probably pay $300-$500 for a used one, if it was in good shape. Certainly no more than 1/2 of the original price, unless it was brand new and unused.

That was kind of my point. The value in PT equipment is bound to be much higher among PT aficionados. In the rest of the world, however, it ain't gonna be worth a whole lot.

The same holds true for used PTs themselves. No "blue book" to go by. There's not even a "used PT lot" to see what prices might be, other than on the PT website...

When I bought mine used, I called and talked to Scott who then took my questions to Terry and others and came back with an "unofficial appraisal" from the factory...

As a matter of fact, I was getting ready to buy a new 60" for whatever the going price was. I saw the used 48" on ebay with a starting bid of $150 so I put a max bid of $500. Sometimes you get lucky and in this case I was the only bidder so $150 and a tank of diesel later I had a finish mower. There was a 60" deck on ebay at the same time but it was an older model without quick attach and it was a lot farther away. No one bid on that one.

The 48" that I bought was in good shape. I greased the spindles and sharpened the blades and off I went.

That rocks, getting a deal like that. One day when i get so old I can't set up and watch someone use my Pt somebody is going to get a good deal. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
