Can anyone give me a sense of what's a fair price for a used B21 with loader and BH? It's a model year 2000 with approx 400 hrs, privately owned by one person.
Peter,
It has been about 5 years and this is down south where tractors seem to be a bit cheaper so you will have to judge for your area. My 98 B21 was bought in 99 with 425 hours and I paid $19k. I was recently told that with its current 1000 hrs. it would bring about $14k as a trade and 1-2k more if I sold myself. When I was looking the hard part was even finding a used B21 for sale. Don't under price, those tractors are in big demand by small contractors and plumbers. Some times Steve Carver’s site has some late model rental return B21’s listed which might help with current pricing.
Earlier this year I looked at a B21 at an equipment dealer in California for $15,000. The meter had 500 hours but it looked like it had a LOT more hours on it than that. I passed on it.
If I had found a private party B21 with 500 hours that looked anywhere near decent, I'd probably would have gone to $18,000.
B21s are made for hard use in a rental yard. The yard owners I talked to say they hold up well and get sold at 2,000 hours for $10,000 to $12,000.
