looking at a used 2003 b7800 with fel. At 3+ years old it only has 25 hours (the current owner had some medical problems). It hasn't been started in 3 months. My question - is too little use just as worse as too much use? Can this tractor have problems from just 'sitting around'? What should I look for? It's been stored in doors and looks brand new. Price is $12,900. thanks.

Bill,
Several good concerns bout that 7800. I dont think you have anything to be worried about, a 03 isnt that old and its sounds like it is in excellent shape. I think the price is a little high. The big negotiating factor in your favor is that the warranty is over and for 2,000 more you could get a new one with a warranty. I would play that angle and get a better deal for sure. With all that aside I dont think you will go wrong. I just recently bought a 7610 with a loader and Im pretty happy so far. I'm currently fighting with the dealership over some minor details but overall I'm happy. I just bought a pull behind mower, so all I need now is a box scraper and Ill be set.

Good Luck

That's a darn good price in our part of the world. That setup would be >$16K.

It ought to look brand new...it is. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this tractor.

In addition to the above questions, can a b7800 pull a 5' rotary cutter? I have ~4 acres of horse pasture that gets cut ~2 times per year so the grass is ~3' high and relatively thick. thanks.

25 hours???!!!

That ain't even broke in yet!!!!

Change the fuel and the engine oil if it's been sitting too long. Hydraulics fluids should be OK if no condensation was able to form but I'd change it anyways just in case (what's a few more bucks for a couple of gallons of fluid?). At that price it's a steal! You guys in the USA ARE LUCKY (as someone said) Never find a deal like that up here, I looked for over a year! :(

Yes, I pull a woods BB60 and cut into stuff that is over 4 feet high. In addition I pull a 6 foot finishing mower for my lawn like areas.

That machine will pull a 6 ft rotary cutter through some pretty thick stuff .. the slower the go, the thicker the cut ... besides, double your seat time and go through it twice ...
