Hello, group.

Have found a deal for a BX2200 w/ 4WD & hydro transmission that is approx. six months old, 120 hours on the clock, ag tires, comes with the FEL and third-party box blade. Seller will take $9800. The only thing holding me back is that 120 hours seems like above average usage for jus tnine months of ownership.

So... is this a good price for this machine? Thanks.

120 hours is nothing; just about broke in. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Mahlon,
Thats' not too many hrs. You can rack 'em up pretty quick if you're doing some projects (honeydo's). I agree with Bird; its just broken in if that. The price is $18-2400 less than a new one would cost you without taking the box into account. Plus the warranty is 2 years and I assume its' transferrable. If its in good shape and maintained it sounds like a good deal.
(I love spending other people's dough! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)

OOPS. Thought you had an mmm too. Knock off $1100-1200from my estimate. Maybe you will save around $1000 over new.

Thanks for the opinions, guys. Yeah, 120 hrs is just breaking the glaze on the cylinder walls, so to speak, so I'm not really worried about the total hours, just that they accrued in less than a year. But hours is hours, so it's OK.

Dave: you're right, no belly mower included. Even so, I'm not following your math here. The machine as it stands lists for approx. $12,700, w/ std. Kubota discount of 7% dialed out but FL tax dialed in I'm still at $12, 500, give or take a few. So looks like your first impression was right, Dave, or am I off base here?

I put 120 hours on mine is about a year... that's nothing to be concerned about.

Mahlon,
I was going by the price I got and some of the others prices I had heard.
My machine went for $9449 with 54" mmm, and loader was $2200. Total w/out tax of $11649. If I remember correctly the base bx2200 was going for $8399 from my dealer. They were having a sale at the time, and before the sale they had quoted me $12,600. At that point I was looking at a b7500 and just wanted a bx price for comparison. Some of the prices I had heard of on TBN were in the same ball park as mine. It pays to look for sales and dealers that are willing to haggle.
good luck,
DaveL

Mahlon,

I just sold my BX2200 w/FEL and an older 5' rear blade (cheaper than a box blade usually, but in used equipment, probably no more than $1-200). It had the bar tires, 4-way FEL valve, grill guard, wheel weights, filled rear tires, and was in pretty good cosmetic shape (couple of paint chips). I put 102 hours on it in 12 months, and I didn't get nearly as much seat time as I wanted, so 120 in 6 months is definitely nothing to worry about. As long as maintenance was done at proper intervals, I wouldn't think twice about it. I asked 9,300 for it, ended up taking 9,100. I was satisfied, and I think the buyer was, too. From my experience, you might be able to talk the seller down a little bit more.

Well, thanks, everyone for your input. I read all of the comments, rolled the dice a few times, determined that used BX2200s are rarer than hen's teeth in these parts, decided that I have somewhat more money than time these days, and forked over the dough, so it's mine. Brought it home, cleaned it up, shot some pics for my wife to see (she's "deployed"), and then proceeded to move dirt. It was an emotional moment... I'm not sure, but I might have seen God. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It's a really interesting machine. Lots of similarities to much larger tractors in terms of layout, design/construction, etc. etc. which is all good.

A bit of personal history: Back in the halcyon days of my youth (circa 1980) I spent some time working in IH's farm equipment research center in Chicago (now a part of J I Case), where at that time all large tractor & implement design/prototyping/test was done. Got quite an appreciation for high-torque/high-horsepower power trains from that (I've seen entire 200 hp tractor transmissions reduced to what looked like irregular steel BBs). IH had a good product, IMHO, and Case has continued with the same transmission design in the Case IH machines. OK, I forgot where I was going with this, and it's quittin' time, so 'bye for now.
