Used Deere prices

All I know is my Deere is worth less when it comes time to sell / trade than a model on the dealers lot with more hours and less attachments. Many have this impression buying from a dealer is reassuring even though no warranty / guarantee is written in the contract. Local dealers in my area have some used units but prices three grand less that msrp which is no deal at all. Yes they have gone up and so has inflation. It is time to update my 4110 into a 33-38 hp range but the gap is so great I will keep mine and keep watch for a private party used machine.

When I traded my 98 670 in on a 2004 4210 I got what I paid. Bought 670 with 60 loader for $9999 Then traded in for a 2004 4210 and got $10,000 on trade. Thought I did pretty good.

That was over 8 years ago.

Although it's been several years, I got the same money for my old 670 when I traded for a 790. And when I traded the 790 for the 4400, I got $1000 less then I had paid for it 6 years previously.

If new tractors have a big price increase, or major change (that adds cost or consumers do not like), the value of the older machines increase.

I bought a used JD 5105 and added a new loader. Kept it about year to 1.5 years. Traded it at a JD dealer on a JD 5303. Got back all my investment in the 5105 and the 5303 is now selling for $3k to $5k more than I paid. Seems to me nothing holds a resale value like a JD.

When I traded my 7 year old 2305 for a 2720 I got a LOT more for the trade in than I ever thought I would.

I don't understand some of these bargain hunters. They want the brand name, a couple years old for half price. I usually tell these people that there are brands out there for less money, when posted for sale, ARE half price , usually a different color with very little dealer support. Sometimes you just have to pay a bit more to get the desired result.
