Thank you all for the info. I'll check out the sites, but in the meantime, this is the truck I'm investigating. Maybe someone can offer an opinion on the price or features?
'02 Chevy 3500 - silverado pkg., 6.0L V8, auto, a/c, AM/FM, cloth bench, extendable mirrors, 28k mi, Meyers/Diamond 8ft steel plow, 8ft dump bed w/full cab protection, central hydraulic system w/ 2 rear remotes, dual fuel tanks, hitch, toolbox, 1 owner.
Cab Condition Outside - very good, one small dent on pass. door, no visible rust
Inside - everything good except for some salt buildup and rust around the hydraulic system valves on the floor. Can't tell if it's causing the sheet metal under the vinyl mat to rust.
Bed - since the previous owner had a salt spreader on this, the bed, tailgate and hitch areas are very rusty. Usable, but not pretty to look at. Plow was in the bed, so I couldn't get a good look at it or the bed, but I did see some areas where the rust had started to flake off layers of the bed's sheet metal. A possible concern.
Tires - about 50%
Engine - started and ran fine
Brakes - seemed very good, no pedal vibration when stopping. Not sure if antilock is on it or if it works, because I didn't do any sliding.
Driveability - seemed normal, no noticeable problems.
Factory warranty on cab & chassis is good for another 6 months or 8k miles. New PA inspection. Asking price is $25,995.
Carfax gives it a favorable report. Only repairs mentioned are computer reprogrammed, fuel tank & fuel pump replaced and exhaust system replaced. The truck is clean overall except for the rust & salt areas mentioned.
Original owner unknown. Sorry, no pix at this time. Will try to post some later.
Thanks,
