We've had that happen before Daryl. Those fawns won't move for anything. If you're looking off you'll suck them right up as they'll just lay there.

Rambler,

While I agree that welding up existing parts and stuff is not hard to do finding the right parts and sensors is. I have also had to resort to trying chains, bearings, etc. in the past for equipment. Half the time the parts store has it wrong. They tell you this bearing or that will work. They tell you this chain will work or this coupler will work. Well most of the time it doesn't. It takes five trips back and forth to get it right. It seems everybody has their own chain now, special couplers, the deere ones are about a 1/16" different than standard. Thus you have to get it from deere or buy five different couplers. When dealing with the mfg. they have the spec sheets right there for every year and the specifics to that year, another problem with the parts stores is that they don't have the info. or parts for every change in models over the years. Plus the deere dealer will deliver the parts right out to me in the field if we're in a bind. Also I don't how good the farmers are in your area but around here and back home there are very few guys that can get a square baler tying when it's gone wrong. That has to be one of the great mysteries of our time is knot tying on a square baler. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Cowboydoc:

My partner, Brian made the statement last year when we had a problem with the kicker baler mis tying, that he thought the guy who invented a knotter probably went insane. Brian is a whiz with about anything mechanical and he spent 2 days trying to get it to tie. Our baler techinician was out of town at some kind of seminar.

We have the John Deere video, I believe it's pretty rare, that shows a knotter in slow motion, explains all the functions and motions and tells you way to fix it. The problem is in the real world, even when you roll the baler by hand through the cycle, as the tying process begins, the knotters are riding a cam so the action is very quick. I though Brian was going to go "postal" a few times and we finally "borrowed" another farmers' baler to finish up. When our tech came out, he explained that because the baler was old, the needles had to actually hit the bill hooks to tie. He set it in about 5 minutes and it's good to go, or at least I hope it is this year, but that't about 6 weeks away.

Today's Tuesday and starting tomorow, we are hoping for about 10 days of good weather with temps in the low 80's. I'll be out in the field early A.M. Like I stated in a previous reply, I will take plenty of pictures and hopefully, no fawns. A rabbit or 2 maybe.

40Chicks:

I just posted the first in a series of haying photo's in the photo section under "haying 5030 style". You might want to check them out. I'm breaking in my 5030 real good. Actually, it has about 150 hours on it anyway.

That 5030 looks kind of small in front of that 13ft moco. Thats really something about hitting the fawn. Last year something ran under my tractor while I was mowing tall weeds. I think it was a turkey. I about jumped out of my seat. Things can really hide in that grass.

It probably looks small 'cause the hay is TALL . Anyway, the 5030 has no trouble running the MoCo just like Kubota said. Funny thing, usually I put the tractor in 4wd when mowing. I forgot and left it in 2wd all day and no difference in tractability at all.

I kinda wish Kubota had a light on the dash to indicate 4wd.

The 13 ft moco is a sickle bar type I assume?
