Good day,

Just picked up a 68 Meteor Snowblower for a good price

Does anyone have a picture how the metal cable (for the chute rotation) should look like?

Also what type of grease should be used for the chute? I知 thinking something like a graphite based ...

Thanks

No pix but an describe.
!/8" aircraft type wire rope is wrapped around the shaft about 6 0r 7 times in both directions and once around the chute.
On the crank as well as on the chute small cable U clamps as used to attach.

I replaced that crank with a small 'harbor freight' style winch to rotate my chute, slow and plenty of torque.
Many TBNrs have done this as well. Some also use automotive wiper motors or windshield motors.

Graphite should work fine but messy. I prefer frequent oil can squirts and made a large washer of plastic for the chute to ride on.

I like using Bar and Chain oil, it's thick and tacky when cold so it clings to the surfaces better than normal oil.

Here is a homemade setup I used to run on my blower, yours should end up simular... I use white lithium grease on my chute metal to metal areas.

Thanks for the info

If it's as simple as described then the 250 I paid for the snowblower will turn out to be a great deal.

May have to improve the blower with Piloon's ideal ...

Thanks again
