Used parts?

   / Used parts? #2
IF you find someone with a good one in a parts tractor they will want at least 80% or more of new price if they know the market. And it's still used. There is no real bargain in used parts as a rule. If the used parts were in such supply that they were dramatically less expensive it would do one of two things...either drive down the price of new (if there was enough margin) or stop the production of new (who's going to make a product intentionally knowing it can't compete in the market?)

If the part you need is 194311-13950 and you are serious about purchasing it, email me.

I know where to find the new ones but I would like to check out the used parts market for a gear in my 4wd.
Just an uninformed opinion - That gear is something where you want the best quality available. A used part will be over 25 years old. Likely as worn as the one that failed.

The 'front wheel assist' on Japanese tractors was probably designed to keep the tractor moving in a flooded muddy rice paddy, not to back out of a gravel pit with a loaded bucket like we do here. It can be overstressed in hard use on dry ground.

For that gear I would pay the price and get the best quality I could find, to preserve the reliability I bought a Yanmar for in the first place.

.

I see your point but isn't a gear a gear? It is either a good gear or not. Wore or not wore. I would think there wouldn't be much middle ground it would either be good or not good.

I have used YM2000 parts . Most yards charge about half price for used parts & won't sell excessively warn or damaged parts. If the fwd has had proper lubrication, the gear can have a lot of hours on it & not be warn. They are usually bad because of lack of lubrication & bearing failure, not hours of use. Yanmar designed & built a good FWD axle. I don't see Yanmar FWD axles failing due to overload like I do with other brands & especially some certain models.
