Anyone ever see used post driver for sale? I am thinking about purchasing one new (haven't seen any used ones myself), but am having a hard time justifying it to myself (my wife on the otherhand always says "just buy it")..but I am cheap (understatement).
Anyway, there is a guy about 1 hour from me that rents out at 70/hour with him operating it. I need to pay for travel. My guess is that right of the bat I have close to 3 days of work I could use him for, for the various pastures I need done.
My problem is, I rarely, if ever, get 8 hours a day to do anyone one task, so for the same reason I ended up buying a pto chipper instead of renting one, so it was there when I needed it, even for just a few hours work, I am considering purchasing a driver (again).
However, unlike the chipper, which there is no end in sight to things I need to chip, because everything grows back, I would guess that sooner or later I am going to have driver all the posts I will ever need to...therefore, I could sell it in a few years.
So in factoring the pros and cons of buy versus rent, I need to factor in the resale value of a $5000 piece of equipment. (I am looking at the king hitter series II with a rock spike which is pretty necessary around here...).
Opinions?
