Hi, as some of you may know, there is a 1430 with 120 hours on the PT website. The engine has 20 hours cause it was replaced due to running it without the air filter. I think the price is very good and I could buy extra attachments too.
What are your thoughts? It is 1999 model - is it any different from the 2004 - 5 model?

Thanks

My vote is "go for it."
What happened to the engine shouldn't have affected anything else.

He's also only an hour away from Tazewell. If i went for it, I could have him bring it there, then maybe PT will inspect it and ship like they do normally.(obvioulsy for a fee)

Did the 1999 PT 1430's have a tilt seat availible? I've been in contact with the seller of the used 1430 and got some pictures. One of them was of the dash and it had a switch for a tilt-seat.
It looks like a really good deal. Then I'll be able to get those extra toys, ooops, I mean attachments /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I got pretty excited when I saw that tilt seat switch on my 1430 when I got it, but when I called ,Terry said it was not available with the 1430. I've been studying the 1845 lately and I think it's built on about the same frame as the 1430 but with the bigger engine and pumps, tilt seat and duel wheels. Thats why I'm thinking of trading up. I like the size of the 1430 but would like more power and traction on some of the steeper hills I mow. Just can't get myself to bite that big a bullet yet. Anyway, you get a free switch with the 1430.

I think the 1845 is a bit bigger than the 1430. They probably use the same dash panel, but I can't think of a reason why a switch for a tilt seat would actually be mounted. Maybe the switch was put in for some auxiliary lights or something.

On my 1430, the "Tilt Seat" switch is just there. It is not connected.

I think it goes back to that mass production mentality that I mentioned in the PT425 brakes post and the holes in the wheel motor brackets. Probably cheaper and faster to just put switches in all the holes and use it on all the red models, rather than worrying about grabbing the incorrect dash plate for a red model tractor. How much does the switch cost VS a production run mistake? Just re-label it and use it for an overhead fan under the ROPS for the driver, an additional set of lights or better yet, label it "ANTI-THEFT CONTROL" to confuse the bad guys. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Just how do you know it's not already under a "full moon?"
