Price Check Used PT430

Anyone have an idea what a good price is for a used PT430 with the following:
1) 2001 model (30HP diesel)
2) Brush hog
3) large material bucket
4) blade
5) 4N1 bucket
6) minihoe
7) 150 hrs on tractor (yes that is right, 10 years old and only 150 hrs, all original parts).

Downside, kept outside for 10 years under a tree, rarely used, mostly for mowing, runs good and starts right up. Paint, plastic, etc faded due to sun.

Great tractor. downside of its life is that you are probably going to have some hose rot and seals going bad,

Just a PITA to deal with, not something I would shy away from.

Hose expense is all about where you shop. If you ask the local hyd shop to make up hoses, beware and get an estimate, and tell them exactly what you want.

You could shop for ready made hoses at places like Surplus Hyd, TSC, Nothern Tool, etc.

It's pushing 11 years old. I'd guess at maybe half of what the same package would cost new *if* you don't find a lot of rust and mildew. The current prices are on the PT website, so you can do the math.

(I've never understood why people will spend $20,000 on a piece of equipment, and then leave it to deteriorate in the weather without so much as a carport or at least a tarp.)

It should have nearly no wear, but the exposed parts will be weather damaged. As others have said, expect to replace hoses. You *might* get away without replacing seals. Also expect the fuel filters to clog from water and bacterial growth in the diesel fuel.

Inspect the hoses for cracked covers. If the outer rubber cover cracks, the steel braid inside will rust. Then the hoses blow out when the braid fails- always when you are in the middle of an important job.

And the seat cover will likely crack.

Drain the fuel tank and buy several extra fuel filters. There may be water in the fuel from condensation. Expect some surprise problems for maybe the first few months/100 hours of operation.

Mother Nature is not kind to exposed rubber and plastic. Allow at least several hundred bucks or maybe a thousand or so for replacement parts if you do your own work. More if you have to pay a mechanic. After that, things should settle down.

If you get it for a reasonable price, I think you will love it.

Push for a deal. Offer him 8. If he bites you got a steal, even if you drop 1K on hoses and seals.

Very few hoses will be able to be replaced with off the shelf ones. There is not enough room to install a hose that is 6" too long. If you had to replace all of them, my guess is the parts would cost ~$1000. If you have them made, $2000 - 4000. If they are in bad shape, buy a used hose crimper and make your own unless you have a very good shop around. The ones around me do not clean their hoses - I can do a better job than they do.

Took a look at your pic this mmorning. Quite impressive. That 1430in austinis the machine i got. Thanks foryour take you posted pretaining to that unit. Yours and all other posts pretaining to that unit and mymaking a decision was very helpful thanks again.. My buddy in sa says the unit is in excellent condition. He used the mini hoe to bury a road kill possum ln his back yard.:laughing that was first offical use of the 1430 have a blessed sun morning. Dale
