Hi Everybody,

I just found this website and I'm loving it. I just bought an acreage and am looking for a snowblower. I found a guy selling this snowblower for $650 and was wondering if anyone might know who the manufacturer is and perhaps if this is worth getting into. I spoke to the seller and he told me he kept it outside year round and it currently worked for him. Just wondering what other might think?

Thanks

I would hold off on buying this snow caster
as the augers are not level as the enter the
gearbox. It has seen a lot of use for this type
of wear and it would require new augers,
bearings and a new bevel gear box
for the augers at least.

The gearbox sagging also involves the carrier
bearing in the rear being very worn to the point
the inner bore of the bearing very worn.

A lot depends on your mechanical ability if
you want to replace the augers, three main bearings-
on the cross augers and the driven shaft entering the
gear box for the cross augers; chances are the P.T.O.,
shafts universal joint bearings are living on short time
as well.

The other item that is suspect are the side weldments
and the condition of the metal that supports/anchors
the open bearings that support the two auger sections.

Seems quite pricey. Don't know the width but I just sold a 45" Cub Cadet front mount in excellent working order for $150. Maybe I should have asked a lot more :(

I'd say to keep looking - something better will come along. An example would be this 7-foot New Idea I found for $275 a few years back. It was rusty from being stored outside but it wasn't worn.

(drag blade & paint were added later)

In addition to leonz's points, it looks like the frame is bent as evidenced by the skewed hitch pins. I'd say it's been "rode hard and put away wet". If it were me, I would pass on it at any price.
