I'm looking at a 2000 TC33D with FEL and 1300 hours for 13000, I can get a 757C backhoe for additional 3000. Is that a good price??
thanks for your help.

OK, the deal is getting sweeter. but I'm still looking for feedback. The price is $15,000 for the 2000 TC33D with 7308 FEL, 757C BH, 60" rotary cutter and R4 tires. I've been looking at new TC-30's in that range, but this way I get a bigger machine with a BH but I don't get a warranty or dealer support. Any feedback? thanks

For our area the price looks pretty good. The 1300 hours is high for a tractor only 4 years old. However, if it was by an individual owner and looks to be in good shape the hours isn't a problem. What I am saying is if it was a rental tractor or a tractor used by a business where you had twenty different employees running it then I would be leary. But if no dents or dings and looks to be in good shape then the hours wouldn't bother me.

The other thing with the 33 over the 30 is the 33 is a deluxe tractor. Has more bells and whistles on it. When I bought I looked at the TC30 and it just didn't fit me well. Either way you will get a good tractor.

At 1300 hours, all the bugs should be worked out of that TC33D. You say you are not getting any warranty, but is the backhoe also used? How about the rotary cutter?

I would just check over the tractor really well. You don't get a warranty, but you don't have to accept a tractor with a problem like a leaky battery (my favorite gotcha). Look at all the hoses well. For example, the hydrostatic transmission cooler line may be old and cracked.

To save yourself some money, you might also invest in a Repair Manual. If you are a negotiator, you might get that thrown into your deal.

For me, the addition of the backhoe and the rotary cutter make this a superior deal to a TC30 without any attachments. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks for the feedback. It was a company unit which may also have been rented from time to time. The BH is also used, the cutter is new. It is an out of state tractor so I haven't been able to inspect. It is about 12 hours away. Otherwise the deal would be done already. How much is a new battery and new hydrostatic transmission cooler line? I was assured the tractor is in "work ready condition with all service work completed" for what that's worth. The company has been around for over twenty years.
Thanks again

one other note, he told me the tractor has a Yanmar engine, yet the tractor blue book shows a Shibaura for that yr/model. Could that be or is he possibly mistaken?

I'm not sure about the cooler line. I just know that several owners have had their hoses deteriorate and start to leak. The battery problem is normally battery leakage. The battery may be perfectly fine, but the fluid seeps out the fill caps and immediately gets sucked into the radiator. The problem shows up as a badly corroded radiator and the metal shelf under the battery. Many people have replaced their OEM battery with an Optima sealed lead acid battery or similar type. These are around $100, but you will have no more battery leakage problems. When you go to inspect the tractor, just raise the hood and look at the battery area and the transmission cooler. They both sit out in front of the radiator and are very easy to see. Take a good flashlight with you.

Don't let me scare you away with these issues. They can all be repaired, but it does effect the value of a tractor if you have to immediately have repair work done after buying the tractor. You might work out a deal where you get problems like this fixed and the current owner would share in that repair cost. What the heck! The tractor might be in perfect condition and not need anything. It still sounds like a very good deal to me. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
