Hi,
I'm sick of the rice tires on my Hinomoto that breaks up the ground every time, especially when surface is wet or with a load on the back. So I started to look for some used turf tires. Prices are really high for used turfs, plus I have to change the rims also. All that being said, I started to play with the idea to get some used tractor tires, the ones that are worn down.
Like in this example.

I figure I get wider tires (= more width to transfer weight) and less footprint (ribs are less aggressive since they are worn down). I can get my hands on some Michelin 16.9R24 tires for about 100$. My original tires are 9.5R24. This would mean the diameter and height are the same. The only thing I would have to do is widen the rims. Current rims are 24xW7. This I could do myself.
I have not bought the tires. But if I could find a matching pair for my fronts, I would be good. They have to match because of 4WD.
Or is this a little bit too much wishfull thinking ? Of course the tires should be in some decent state, same as used turf should be.
Has anyone done this before ? I would be glad to read your thoughts about this...
