Tractor
Terramite T5C, Kubota M9540HDC24, F3990, RTV1100, Cat 416C, D3B, 955L
Was going to buy new with cab and at least 60HP, but the cab part came from the wife. Been using a friends open ROPS for the last few years. Have more land now and don't like the idea of using someone else stuff, so I put off things.

In any case found a couple on CL which caught my eye, so thinking about your thoughts
M6800 with LA1002 loader, 1630 hours and no year, has cab
M6040 with LA1153 loader, no hours listed, 2011 model and pics are pristine (as in were taken when tractor was first bought)

A 50 HP tractor would do me fine now, but thinking about doing more things and more land so going to need more power.

Cabs are very nice to have, as long as your not driving them through the woods with trees banging all over them.
I have a cab on my JD and the A/C great for brush hogging in the heat of the summer, and the heat is very welcome in the winter while plowing snow.

Thanks for the reply, I feel the same way about my backhoe with cab

Have seen 2 of the 2011 M6040 for 12K (both on CL) and think this is a scam or there is something wrong with the tractors

What is the prices on the used and new?

Maybe look over the prices on Tractorhouse.com to get an idea of what dealers are asking for those models. There is often substantial variance in what dealers ask for similar machines, but at least it gives you an idea.

I'm leaning toward the M6800 now. The weight isn't so much to make it hard to trailer and more then enough power. Can find with and without cab and yet all of them are under 2000 hours. One thing I don't get is why so many tractors come up for sale between 1500 and 2000 hours? My back hoe has 4500 and its considered mid life. It isn't until it gets closer to 7000 before folks (other then full time construction) worry to much about them

I just traded my open station JD 3320 for a Kubota L 3560 HSTC. The "C" means CAB. I have 120 acres of wooded property....with about 8 acres of food plots and a few miles of trails thru the woods. I have spent about ten years getting the food plots and trails established....and have had much of my property logged....to reduce the number of pine trees. I've ground over 3000 stumps from my land with a Woods 3 point stump. grinder.

I still have lots of "woods" with some areas of pines, firs, and lots of young oaks, aspen and willows. The logging company did a good job of leaving the trees I wanted and taking what was of little value to my wildlife. Now...the re-gen is really flourishing....and so to is the wildlife

I dont think I could have gotten along with a cab tractor in the early years....as there were too many tight areas that would have made my life (and the cab's) quite difficult. Still.....I have wanted a cab for several years.....and as I am getting older I want one more and more. (allergies, dirt, dust, hornets, wasps, hot, cold, and all that stuff).

I've now owned my cab tractor for about two months and 30 hours or so. I dont see any reason that I would want an open-station tractor again. I only had a few branches and tight spots with the cab....and little by little I have groomed those from my property. Happy, happy, happy. No going back for this cowboy. :).

Currently I probably only need a compact tractor. Don't do any crops, just cut around 13 acres with my F3990, some areas quite steep. Looking for a tractor to pull a 300 gallon sprayer and almost bought my in-laws Case 1120. The 1120 would pull the sprayer but might not be able to stop it going down hill. Also may only be able to pull it in low gear up. I'm thinking into the future and buying more land and may want to pull a 12 or 15 foot bat wing.

Been using my buddy's JD 5320 and it seems like it has enough power most the time, but even climbing my hills pulling a 6 ft rotary cutter, it has to be geared down in places
