I thought I'd let you guys know that I just "discovered" a very useful tool for taking apart my Grillo tiller implement. Dunno, but it probably works on the BCS tillers too.

I used to beat on the tine assemblies with a hammer and a piece of wood to separate them from the gearbox in order to clean weeds, string, etc. from behind the seal protectors. But then I found a 6", two-jaw gear-puller. Stick it on, crank it down until it feels like everything is about to break...then BANG!: it all cracks apart. Easy! Clean that junk out of there and put it all back together. And remember to put some kind of anti-seize compound on there for next time!

Totally worthwhile having for the once-yearly cleaning. Saw a Chinese-made one for $9.99 at my local hdwre. store. How did I ever live without a gear-puller?

Hey Udder,

Yeah, after tearing into my second BCS tiller, I finally broke down and bought a three jaw puller. I use it every time now.

Glad to hear you found a fast easy way to take the hubs off!
