I have a Jinma Chipper and want to set it up with an older tractor that does not have a three point hitch.

I am looking for a good way to secure the chipper for use? It does have to be somewhat movable, in other words no concrete, and not a day each time I move it.

I plan on running it with my W-4 so I can use the 4720 for other work, at the same time, lots of clearing going on.

Thanks for any ideas you can offer,

Bob

What about bolting some pieces of 5' long 4"x6" lumber along the bottom? Imagine a tic tac toe pattern with the chipper base being the box in the middle.

The arms going to the left and right will control rotational torque so the chipper does not flip over on its side. The supports going forwards and backwards would stabilize the chipper from tipping back. The chute makes the thing slightly unstable while unattached from the tractor and merely sitting there.

Add a longer PTO shaft so it can sit at least 2-3' away from the tractor. When you start chipping, there is a lot of force. I have seen mine shift back and forth a little while on the 3pt or the i-match. And that is with over 3000# of tractor trying to hold it still. Your base will need to be strong. I would not use anything smaller than 4x6 lumber. I would hate to see that 800# chipper start spinning backwards or sideways out of control.
