Hi

I need a heavier duty vehicle to move some of my construction equipment

I know it's customary to use a dump truck for this but I also do other work that requires a flatbed and or hauling vehicles here and there so I'm thinking the ultimate vehicle for me might be a modified rollback truck

I'm looking for a heavy duty rollback with a steel deck with removable siding so it can act as a flatbed but at the same time I do need it to dump so I'm wondering and I've actually seen this somewhere where a person had a removable section off the back of the rollback maybe three or four feet maybe longer I didn't see it in person but I'm thinking if that part could be removed and if somehow a longer cylinder in the front could be install then I think I could almost use a rollback truck as a dump truck when needed and also have it set up to tow my trailer with equipment on it

I didn't want to have to buy multiple trucks I was hoping to have one truck to do multiple tasks

Has anybody ever heard of such a thing being done basically using a rollback as a dump truck also?

In order for me to haul my equipment trailer I think I would have to buy one without the wheel lift on the back so I can rig up a heavy duty

Anyways thanks for any and all help on this I know crazy idea LOL

Thanks

Or maybe something like this with different bodies/platforms. Lots of pictures at the link:

Would a roll back dump at a steep enough angle to get the dirt to slide out?

A roll back function will not be able to dump truck no matter how you play with the cylinders. It's the long overhang past the rear axle that makes a rollback do it's thing and dump trucks are completely opposite with very little to no overhang past the hinges that are generally directly behind the rear leaf spring support.
A hook lift like mentioned above are great but you'll really want a second flatbed body along with a dumpster type body for a dump truck type use.
Another problem with them is the roll off mechanism is heavy and really subtracts from a legal load.
I had one on an f 750 and iirc about 6 ton was all we could legally haul with a 33k gvw.
A tandem setup would be sweet.
