Does anyone in the group use a tiller with their 2300? I am thinking of buying the MF tiller and just wondered if anyone has any experience with it or perhaps there is a better one or a more afordable one that is just as good?

Thanks

I rented a tiller over the weekend for my 2300. Unfortunatly I did not get to use it because the shaft was too long and due to rain and other issues ran out of time to modify it.

Anyway it was a brand new King Kutter 60". What a monstrosity. I told my dealer that I thought it was a bit big (he also told me they only provide one length shaft, where in the past there were 3 available, and you cut it). The dealer told me his landscape people like that configuration because the 60" KK is so heavy duty (the tines are pretty thick). I did have it hooked to the 3pt and definitly needed the weight of the FEL to stabilize things (I also have liquid filled front tires).

So even though I didn't get to operate the tiller, I think I will stick with a 52 or 48" since I still have tilling to do and will try to do it this weekend. If all would have went well I think I would have thrown a couple 12" blocks in the FEL for extra weight. Maybe after next weekend I can tell you how it actually works.

Although I didn't get my tilling done, I did get to move about 50 some ton of top soil. So I still had some fun. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

BTW: When I got my 2300 last year I had to wait a month for it to come in. I see my dealer now has at least 10 in stock.

CCM has gear drive tillers designed for your GC2300, 45-60". Our CR series has a unique hitch that helps the sub-compact tractors accommodate a PTO with a clutch.

Almost all tiller literature states a PTO hp rating requirement. As long as that number is the same as or less than the tractor PTO spec you will be fine. 60" is way too big.

True it is to big (to a point), but remember the tractor is "holding back" the tiller and not pulling it (tiller is moving forward, right?). BUT will that 2300 lift that bad boy and not take the front wheels off the ground of the tractor? I would think that would be the biggest problem for the 2300.

It is important to properly size your tiller for your tractor. If the hp requirements to drive the tiller exceed the capacity of the tractor then it is possible the PTO clutch on the tractor will start slipping (as it is designed to do) and wear prematurely.

A CR60 CCM Gear drive tiller needs 16 PTO HP when you are tilling at maximum depth in clay sod. We have sold a large number of these tillers to GC2300 owners with no problems. The CR50 is 50" and takes only 12 HP if you want to step down.
