Picked up a Land Pride 25-20 box blade.

If this forum remembers, I have been working with only a draw-bar with Clevis to pick and drag the trees from our property.

Getting a capable tractor is great. Getting the correct implement to do a job...priceless!

I now see the light, to invest in attachments that can handle heavy duty service.

If anyone could advise me on the following dilema, I would greatly appreciate it: I now have a 40'x40' tree (log/brush) pile, {small aspen) I need to get rid of. Would like to burn, but area is not open enough. I still have not invested in the 400CX loader my tractor will wear, so the pile is approx. 10' high, but wide, since I can only drag the logs into somewhat of a circle. Logs vary from 4" diameter, to 2' diameter. The area they are in will become a planted area eventually.

Sometime our local fire dept will come out and do a "controlled" burn for instructional purposes for the firefighters. Be nice if a dozer could bury the pile out of your way. Ken Sweet

I fought a similar fight a year ago. Some property we bought has a small pond. The previous owner had pushed a bunch of trees into a big pile at the head of the pond and I did not want to burn them there because they were under some trees I did not want to damage.

I used a carry all from TSC to haul branches and pulled the downed logs with a chain. Fortunately I had a FEL and used it to push the logs onto the new pile. My only thought if you are not ready to spend the money on a FEL is to get a Boom pole and once the logs are in the general area, could maybe use it to lift one end of the logs and swing it in and then the other end. Obviously using caution and keep everone out of the way.

A FEL would and a whole lot of value to your ability to get things done but it is a pretty big investment. But you will not believe how much it helps until you have it.

Do you live in an area where a sign that reads "Free Firewood" would take care of most of the pile?

Hey, that should work and then rent a wood chipper to clean up what is left. Just make sure you have liability insurance that would cover the free wood cutters. Ken Sweet

For years, I cut anything stove worthy into cordwood and hand drug brush to the pile and hand stacked it.

Thank goodness for grapples.
