I recently purchased a used 1994 M5030SU and need some help on how to use the PTO. It has a PTO clutch & PTO lever on the left side. I assume I pull up on the PTO clutch then push the PTO lever down (on) then release the PTO clutch to the original position. TO stop the PTO, I assume I need to only move the PTO lever to stop and do not need to do anything with the PTO clutch. Any help on the proper use or sequence would be appreciated.

I cannot tell you that it is necessary at all but I did use the clutch for both starting and stopping the PTO. Again, it may not be necessary but I treated mine like it was a manual transmission car. You clearly need it to start and it may or may not be necessary to stop.

I would add one more thing that surely been said before. Always bring it down to idle before engaging the PTO, or disengaging it. That will reduce the amount of slipping the clutch has to do to engage, and reduce the speed of the implement before disengaging.
