Farmliner/UTB 445
Hi all,

When we moved farms, the new farm came with a Farmliner 445, which is a UTB take on a Fiat 450 I believe.
Needed a lot of work, only working gauge was the fuel gauge, most things sprung to life after replacing all the corroded or burnt out fuses, and giving the tractor a bit of love over the xmas break. Still need to verify if the temp gauge is now working.
However there are a few wires that were found to be disconnected, and I'm not sure what the reasoning was, or where they go. I was hoping there might be someone with the same model tractor that could help me out?

There is one on top of the engine, wrapped around the fuel rail, that has a red/black wire, and a red/blue wire, and only the red/blue wire is attached to some sensor, maybe it is the temp sensor? According to the wiring diagram (which might not be correct), this should be the red/black wire. In any case, why would one be disconnected, where would it go?

The other 2 wires are under the fuse box, and one is quite thick. They appear to both be red with a yellow stripe, but quite faded and hard to tell. One has a spade terminal on the end. The wiring diagram doesn't give up any clues on this one, can anyone please help?

If anyone has a workshop manual for this model it would be great too, can't seem to find anything on the net. The parts catalog that came with the tractor is dated mid-90's, so I'm guessing that is the vintage of this tractor.

The one on the injector return lines could be for the Thermostart? You're lucky to have coloured cables on yours when I got mine & had a similar task, the cables were all the same colour!.
Incidentally, you need to clear all that chaff & twigs around the rocker cover & keep it clear. The filters are situated directly above the starter. Any weeps of diesel drop onto the starter which then collects chaff/hay/twigs/dust. Ditto up around the injectors as on your pic. Mine was the same & I just let it be.... Cutting thick rushes one hot summer I broke a shearbolt. Fixed that & went to restart the tractor, only to get a Chunk Chunk, with no starter engagement. Tried a few times with no luck, then though "Can I smell burning?". Jumped out to find engine ablaze & tractor became a total loss. I have heard of a couple of other cases the same where a high resistance on starter terminals sets fire to diesel soaked gunge from the filters. Take note & keep the engine clean!
They are a lovely sized tractor for a smallholding - the user manual I got online for mine as an Allis Chalmers 5045 which is the same Fiat450/UTB445

Thanks heaps! I'll get right onto cleaning it out. We are only on 40 acres, so it suits our needs fine. Do you happen to have a link to that user manual?

I don't have a link, sorry. It was over 15 years ago I got it from US somewhere, but the memory isn't what it was, sadly!

I have an old Fiat 450 (1981) and it may have been made in Romania by UTB. I want to retire it but unsure whether to go for the 450 or the 445 harness. My own seems to conform largely with the 450 diagram I have but looking at the 445 wiring diagram would clinch it. Do you have one I could see?
