UTB-850 parts/ service etc

Purchased this Universal from a bank at Winchester IN in 2000 with only 90 hrs, banker said it was financied by someone, never mentioned where it sold new and I never did find anyplace that sold this model. The U-1010 is nearly identical and was still listed on the Universal Canadian web page till a couple of years ago. Did find a dealer on the net in Ontario, ordered a parts manual from them, found the fuel injection pump (Mefin) and hydraulic pump (Saphir) are different/ not in the book. Haven't gotten any responce back recently from the Ontario dealer's e-mail. I am getting some leads on service or replacing these units and have noticed some messages on this fourm about Romanian parts in the US I have not yet pursued. Does anyone recall this tractor selling the US or know if some models are still sold here? There was once a dealer in Ohio selling some small UTB tractors but he told me I would have to get parts for the 850 from Can.

I sold and serviced utbs for a while. There was a dist in Indiana at one time.
E mail me pics and I can Identify. I think this is a 6cyld model?

You know, before I put a bid in on that tractor I did talk to a couple of men in the equipment business and both said Universal had been in touch with them wanting to start dealerships.

Be careful... I heard that the factory in Romania is closed down and the property is being sold to a developer.

that is the same tractor sold as fiat with the 6 cyld.
Tommy's right the factory is up for sale in romaina.
most of the parts for the tractor can be obtained.
the hard parts are castings and gears specific to that tractor. most of the hyd parts and elec were purchaced parts. Rob

Well, not that I would know for certain, but not long ago the web page for Universal manufacturing was active and it seemed the place was still running. Several tractors in the US come from that plant, least they did till recently.

I always thought this was a model Fiat sold out of and it is similiar to a Fiat-Hesston.
