Most of the V-rakes are very simple and work very well. In my area the Vermeers were a little less expensive than some of the others. Used ones are easy to find. It depends on parts availability in your area and what color you like best.
They are all similar in quality in my experience. I cant even remember who makes my eight wheel v, but it works great and it's never given me any trouble.
They dont spin very fast at all, but they do an amazing job. You dont have to pull them very fast either. I pull the 8 wheel rake with a John Deere 4100 CUT and it does a great job.
I have a WR20 and pull it with both the M9540 and the L2650. It does a excellent job. It is mostly behind the L2650 with the M9540 and baler close behind. I use a 2pt drawbar with the L2650, the hitch is a little to low and the rake does a better job when it is level. This way the amount of down force needed can be adjusted depending on field conditions. We used to use two rollbar rakes pulled with a dollie, one left hand one right hand. The V rake is so much better.
