V2242 White smoke when starting and high pitch noise from under engine while idling

25 hours on my Husky ythv2242. Recently changed oil, spark plugs, air filter, oil filter and gas filter. Lot's of white smoke when starting but goes away after engine is running. Tonight had one large back fire as well.

I also have high pitch noise coming from under the engine when idling at a low speed.

Could the engine pulley be causing the noise with the belt.

Any ideas or suggestions from my fellow husky owners?

white smoke indicates oil burning. does the engine have the proper amount of engine oil and not overfilled. the high pitch whine could be an idler pulley bearing. may need to check drive belt idler pulleys for bearing roughness. if you were getting white smoke prior to oil change could be a sign of more severe trouble like leaking head gasket or broken ring.

If you only have 25 hours on the tractor, it should still be under warranty. It was my understanding that blue smoke was oil burning and white smoke was from moisture, i.e. usually coolant (but obviously no coolant on an air cooled engine). I'm probably wrong about white smoke not being oil burning.

The squeal could also be a slipping belt or a bad pulley bearing.
