Vacation Ideas for Jan 2017

My wife and I have been talking about doing something after Christmas and before school starts up again for her on Jan 18th. She is a teacher at the University of Texas and gets 6 weeks of for the holidays. We thought about a cruise, and have been in touch with our travel agent, but the ones we liked are already booked up. I just learned that people book these up over a year in advance. Who knew?

He is still looking for a cruise that we might be interested in, but I was hoping somebody on here might have some ideas on places to go, or stay that we could look into that would be warm, fun and interesting?

My in-laws have done a lot of cruising. Alaska (not in Jan) and Hawaii have been their favorites (outside of the Galapagos Islands, which wasn't a "true" cruise and I think they had to book nearly 2 years in advance). My wife and I did the Eastern Caribbean for our Honeymoon in Jan a few, well 7, years ago and really liked it. Much more vacation than drunken party of the Western Caribbean. Southern Caribbean is on my list also, which hits parts of Brazil, but with 3 kids 4 and under it'll be awhile before we have that kind of time.

I remember watching the Travel Channel and the top beach destinations and Thailand looks really nice. They had a segment on Phi Phi and looks incredible. I know Thailand is on my list to be traveled. Good Luck Eddie

We spent 9 days in Hawaii a few years ago. 14+ would be even better. If you have not seen the Pearl Harbor memorial.. It's powerful.. It's something every American should see. I would really love to return and spend some time in Maui as well as Kauai

It's summer here in Australia (and, of course, Tasmania) and your US$ goes further.

Hawaii was a nice cruise, enjoyed it immensely, although were not too impressed with Norwegian cruise line. I think the best cruise we've experienced was the Virgin Islands. We flew into San Juan the day before and toured the old Spanish fortress there. I enjoyed it immensely. The Virgin Islands were breathtakingly beautiful. Megan's Beach is a must; St. Thomas. Granada was a disappointment though; we went ashore and were inundated with con men, so we returned to the ship. We enjoyed it so much a couple years later we rented a condo in St. Thomas and spent a week there. Can't say I enjoyed that experience nearly as much.

Nice beach; pretty place. I spent an interesting...and...funny...and expensive...afternoon in Carlos & Charlie's.

Drive the Oregon and Washington coastlines......nothing prettier.....lots to do and see.
