I am helping a neighbor, he wants to sell his 1975 chevy pickup. It runs, body has rust, 94K miles. Any idea at all on value? I looked online, not much data on old vehicles like that. I am thinking $1500 or B/O ?

It all depends take a look at similar cars on CL and EBAY for pricing. if everything works then condition of body & Interior comes into it. they are somewhat collectable but plenty survive out west & down south to keep market demand going.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. I would be surprised if it would bring more that $1000, just because it doesn't seem like there's a big market for beater trucks any more. Start as high as you want, you can always go down. I would assume minimum pricing would be based on what it weighs - although scrap price here has nosedived from about $300/ton in April to $160/ton now.

Good luck and take care.

Interesting questions.....
I have a '75 BLAZER (K-5) I bought it years ago from a local cop. Apparently there was an aftermarket outfit that installed rollbars, cut the door frames upper bar and installed convertable tops. It was cool, painted Marina Blue Metallic. Over the years I installed a 4" lift kit, wheels, big tires, a new top, fiber hood, headers, new seats. When it had about 140,000 miles it got sluggish so I started spending CRAZY money. I put in a "crate" 350 HP motor, torker cam with roller valve arms, a high rise intake and Holley. THEN.....an r-4 (?) OD transmission and posi rear diff.
It got pretty fast by then....and of course, loud. My 20 something kids loved it and always argued over who got to drive it. As the poster's truck has....It had rust on both doors and the left door POST. THAT has prompted me to spend MORE $$ on it. It's in the body shop right now getting new doors, quarter panels and door post welded in. Then it will need another paint job etc. It has gotten so old though that it is an attraction and I often go to the Friday night "antique" gatherings.
IT's all in the eye of the beholder and how much money he wants to pour into it.
BTW, LMC truck in Ohio has on line and paper catalogs and has almost everything for the restoration of Chevy truck. good luck, have fun

It is probably worth more in parts... Some of the axles in those trucks are popular to put in Jeeps and other 4x4's as an upgrade. If the front axle is a high pinion Dana44, it could be worth a lot.

How solid is the frame? You can find all sorts of aftermarket parts for those trucks, but without a solid platform they are nothing but scrap metal.

I know this all to well... I have an '87 GMC that I would love to fix up but the frame rotted while
I was waiting to get to it. :(

I'd look on Craigslist to see what others are asking for similar vehicles. That should put your neighbor in the ballpark for your area.
BTW, a recent inspection (if your state requires them) would be a big help

We don't have inspections here. If they did the goof in front of me today would have had that POS Ford towed to the scrap yard. Looked like he was running on coal, there was so much smoke. I've looked at the CL in this area, and thru the national search thingy. Not much out there. It is driveable, but needs a lot of cosmetics.
