I have a 1993 John Deere Gator 6x4, liquid cooled Kawasaki 18 hp, factory bedliner and factor electric dump. It has been on my property since it was new and used only on weekends.
I also have a 2000 Kawasaki Mule 2510 4x4, liquid cooled Kawasaki 18 hp. It has also been on my property since new and currently has 800 hrs.

We are thinking of selling these two machines and getting one new 4 passenger UTV (probably a Kubota RTV 1140).

Any suggestions on an asking price? A lot of the online sellers have used machines similar to ours for sale, but they seem to be high-hour, beat up machines.

Attached are some photos of each.

Compare asking prices of other similar models on Tractorhouse under the ATV title.

I'll try to rephrase my question: based on the info/photos above, if you were in the market for a used UTV, would you pay $4250 for the Mule or $3850 for the Gator?

Are these reasonable asking prices? Any suggestions on advertising (what to mention in ad)? Should I remove my homemade roof/windshield from the mule or leave it on?

I would probbaly start the Mule at $4499 and the Gator at $3999 and see where you get. I would mention one owner, the hours, possible trade for a mint RTV1140, etc.

Spring is coming (I think) and that is the time when we will be selling the above machines. I also typically perform PM on my equipment in the spring. Do you think I should change the oil/filter, clean air filter, change fuel filter, lube joints, clean plugs as I normally would or let it go? I am inclined to perform this maintenance if selling, but if trading in, is it worth my time/money?

In my opinion if you're definitely trading/selling them I would not bother with the maintenance you will not recoup any of your expense in the sale. I've never bought equipment and not done PM myself even if the previous owner claimed it was done the day I bought it.

I'm also not sure you could get in the $4k range for a Gator that is 20+ yrs old even in the great shape it's in.....the same thing with the 14 yr old Mule....it's not that they are bad machines but most people won't pay that much for equipment that old when they can put a bit with it and get more modern equipment. Just my $.02

NADA on the Mule is $2710 retail given the low hours you might get a few more $$ but I still don't think you'd fetch over $3k for it. 2000 Kawasaki KAF620A6 Mule 2510 (4X4) Standard Equipment, 2000 Kawasaki KAF620A6 Mule 2510 (4X4) Price & Specs | NADAguides

Yeah. Pricing is tough. I've been keeping an eye on CraigsList and Tractorhouse. The Mule 2510's the are on TH right now (and in the US), range between $3200 and $6900. The $3200 one is older than mine and beat, hours not listed. The $6900 one is a diesel, 798 hrs, has factory cab and is in good shape. As for Gators, there are definitely more out there and prices are all over the map. Locally, there are three, ranging between $3500 and $5800.

So, those asking prices mentioned above seem to fit in the market range, but who knows what these machines are really selling for. I have been gathering quotes on new machines and sent in those photos of my machines to a dealer who is interested and they are going to give me a trade in price. That may be a reality check. We'll see...

One thing to keep in mind when checking out Ebay or Tractorhouse listings is those items are still available for sale.....who knows how long they've been on the market or how long they will continue to be on the market. I wouldn't be surprised if a dealer offers you as much as you can get private sale, they typically have a better chance of selling items even at higher than book pricing if they are in good shape and they can finance them for the buyer.

How many hours, what kind of shape? I have a low hours 2000 Diesel Mule that looks like new.

I'm guessing that the price of these things drops off greatly when driving it off the lot, like a car and then levels off. Then after any amount of serious use, it really drops off. With a fuel filter for a Diesel Mule costing $80.00 (maybe even more then that for a Jaguar!), you can guess what a person might be in for, if any repairs are required. A little front end work can cost thousands, I am told! CRAZY!

I know it's not your question, but I think someone would be farther ahead to buy something like a used Suzuki or Tracker SUV. Real vehicle, lights, heating, ect. In many respects, I think these Utility vehicles are for suckers with too much money!

I'm guessing I should take some offense to that statement...I probably won't.
