replacing the head gasket and need to do a valve adjustment . has anyone done an adjustment without finding the TC 1 mark on the fly wheel ?
I really don't want to remove the fel support/attachment if there's another way .

Why do you think the valves need adjustments?

When Y-Lee reached 400 hours I spoke with Paige dealer about valve adjustment per manual.
The reply was this: If you do not have any issues with engine run, such as missing, backfires, skipping, rough idle, etc then save your money and let it run.

So I would recommend calling your dealer.
Since you did not mention hours or condition of engine run.
If she ain't broke.....

I took my CK 27 with 900 hrs and let the dealer do it, as i had some other minor work i wanted done. Yes...they removed the FEL support. Cost me $400

White smoke is not a valve lash issue. (This would an engine running performance issue)

His tractor blew a head gasket and he took it apart and fixed it now wants to adjust the valves after he put it back together........

No, you don't have to find TDC to set the valves. Google some You Tube videos and it might give you some good advice and methods. Essentially, rotate the engine until one of the valves for a cylinder is well on its way down. Then adjust the other valve on that cylinder. Then rotate the engine so that you can adjust the other valve. Follow this pattern for all cylinders and double check them afterwards. Make sure you disable the engine from starting if you're rotating the engine via the starter.

Another method is to rotate the engine so that the cylinder is well into its compression stroke. Both valves will be closed at that time. This way, you can adjust both valves at one time. Then move on until another cylinder.

thanks , i have searched the whole forum or so it seems and couldn't find anything .
My head bolts are on backorder so playing the waiting game .
I read the bolts are torque to yield I have a TD1300 in my CK 25 and the manual says 57.9 -61.5 lb-ft doesn't seem like enough to stretch the threads :confused3:

When 1 rocker arm hits the highest valve lift turn the crankshaft 1 full turn then adjust that valve as that will be when the heel of the camshaft is against the camshaft lifter/follower (lowest lift).

Repeat again for each valve.

It seems the newer generation can't adjust valves without knowing TDC and a manual. Us old farts, before hydraulic lifters, had to adjust lots of valves, even on running engines. The process isn't hard or super critical. Just double check them when you're done. Once you do it, the process should make sense.

have done it before on 8's 6's 4's and 2's but never a 3

Have a shop manual and can take pics of head install bolt sequence and torque and valve lash adjustments.

Just need your engine type i.e. is it a 3FTH(3 or 4)U?

3=cyl
F=can be A/B/F for stroke
T= Tractor
H=HST (M-mech/P-power shuttle/L-others)
3=Tier 3
4=Tier 4
U=US

If yah gots all da info Cool....if yah needs a hand I'll do my best to get you the pics.
Manual page 2-3 looks like it goes back to serial numbers of 2010, published April 2016.
I'll check in see what you gots.....

Thanks y lee , the dealer loaned me a shop manual.
I read on here that the head bolts were torque to yield however when I talked to a kioti mechanic and from reading the manual about torque specs they are not torque to yield and can be reused. Thank God as New ones were back ordered and would be at least another week. With this **** C-19 have lots of time off and lots to do around the place . About a hour tomorrow and should be running.

I had saved a link from years back that had the shop manual. This should be the link with a copy of the manual: http://goo.gl/2Oag9J That should be for the CK25/27/30/35. Clink the link and it opens a zip file then double click and presto you have a shop manual.

Another way to get you on comp. stroke with the head off. Bring #1 to TDC then put the push rods in for #1 they well be the same height, if not turn 180.
