Is there a company that makes steel pieces that can be welded at the valve stem area, and, next to the bead? The metal is very thin at, and for a couple of inches around, the valve stem. The bead itself is okay. Can’t be welded. I’m sure y’all have heard this saga 100 times. Thanks!

They can be repaired and welded but it is a time consuming, labor intensive, dirty job;

starting to wire brush.......................................It's hard to see but I've already welded in a machine bushing and ground it down, now starting on the bad cracks and missing metal...

Why not just drill a new hole somewhere else and weld a patch over the 'hole' area ?

I bought a new rim last year for the other side, didn't feel like spending the better part of 3 days messing around with one in a bit worse shape.

Liking zz's suggestion "if" there are other areas that are not as thin as what is now shown around the rusted valve stem hole.

The contours of the rim shape and the necessity of getting the patch so it wouldn't tear up an inner tube. When I repaired mine I looked at salvage rims hoping to be able to cut a section out of a damaged rim to weld in. I only found a few salvage rims that were available and none of those had the right bends to match up with my rim.
