2007 Kubota BX24
I know it is a small thing, but I came out to use my two year old BX24 after letting it sit for a few months and all the valve stems were leaking...they were all cracked and falling apart. Tractor is never left in the sun and has only 60 hours on it. I just think it is odd...anyone else have anything like this happen?

Yep...had my 24 about the same length of time, and replaced first stem last fall. Now the other front one is leaking. Sure hope the rears don't go...tires are filled...

News stories a while back about failing auto valve stems that were made in China...hmmmm...

Just had tubes put in all my tires on my BX 2350 because of rotten valve stems

My tires were filled with rim guard (beet juice) 2006, BX2350, 350 hrs. Both rear valve stems rotted out because of the reaction to the juice. Put in tubes and loaded with calcium. Why don't the put in steel valve stems when using rim guard?

wow ! what a timely thread !!! My stem just blew apart tonight as when I was just loading my BX24 in the trailer. luckily I had the BH mounted and used that for a jack. I also have rimgaurd but I don't see how rimguard caused a issue with the stems. Both the stems and tire is made of rubber!! I also have to add that like the others its 2 years old. Is it a coincidence ? is rimgaurd really causing an issue ? Ill worry about the answer next week. I am off soon on a trip with my BX. Luckily I had a package of new stems for my cars so I used one of them and put that in. If this is gonna be an issue , I need to know if I really need to install metal stems or replace all 4 with new rubber stems?

All 4 of the valve stems on my BX 24 failed from dry rot before the unit was 2 years old.

I lost both fronts on my BX24 in under a year. Rears (filled with RimGuard) are still holding. Fingers crossed.
Matt.

I think BotaBigot nailed it.

A couple of years ago there was a news story that a huge number of valve stems were imported that all rotted quickly.

Sounds like Kubota bought a containerload of them.

So far (knock on wood) my BX23's stems have held.

I just replaced both of my front tire stems too, the epoxy came apart at the top, just like the others. Machine was bought in December 07 and only has 55 hrs or so.
