Am looking at changing my hydraulic valve and joystick on my DK45S, want to add a grapple or be able to use a 4in one, not sure if valve is open center or closed?
Input would be greatly appreciated.👍🏻😎

there is no need to change the current valve if it has a PB port...?

Does it have one? How do i tell?
Was going to re locate the OEM valve for running my side shift ditch bank mower, then put a new joystick with 3 functions for the loader, same type of valve but the joystick is different and the adjustment of the ends is a little different, just figured would be better, maybe am wrong, wouldnt be the first time, just curious if its open or closed center, think its open, not sure on the power beyond,

You've added more info (bank mower plumbing)...
I don't know about the open/closed center but I would guess it's open also...
How is the bank mower plumbed? it's possible that valve has a PB port...a PB port should be labeled as such or just "beyond"

The mower just has lines from the cylinders for the sideshift and angle adjustment up and down,
Have been just taking the loader off and connecting the hydraulic lines from the mower to the loader control, (made extensions for the lines) it works fine but would like to not have to remove the loader, usually takes a few days to mow all around our place and use the forks on the loader a lot for the shop.

On the 45s the loader valve is on the left side under the operator station. Cables connect the joystick to that dual (lift and curl) valve. The valve is open center, which means hydraulic flow flow goes from the pump to that valve and from that valve's power beyond port to the back end for rear remotes (if any) and the three point hitch. Open center means the flow goes through the valve unless the valve is energized (by the joystick) in which case some flow is diverted to the appropriate cylinders of the loader. The loader valve also had a drain to the sump for low-pressure fluid returning from the cylinders.

Replacing the loader valve is nuts. But a third function valve can be added in the power beyond line from that the loader valve to the back end. The stock connection is a rigid line that would be replaced by two hoses (loader valve to third function and third function to back end). An electrical rocker switch on the loader grip would activate the third function valve. This arrangement does not allow modulating the third function flow; it;s either on or off.

The other option is to splice a diverter valve into the flex lines to the loader curl circuit. In this case, a push button on the joy stick grip switches the curl circuit between curl and grapple (or whatever is mounted up front).

The final option (and cheapest) is to run long hoses from the loader to an unused rear remote (if you have one).

Yea, i dont really buy that, just wanted to know if it was open or closed,

Is a pretty simple setup, my Komatsu ex is complicated

Im just wanting all the controls right on the joystick like a real loader, so was just clarifying valve type, in theory i could ditch the mechanical joystick all together and just use electronic controls, be easier as i could use two separate joysticks for loader controls and the mower or a sprayer boom or whatever out the back, with one valve bank, and mount the sticks so they are in a more ergonomic location when seated running the tractor, if youve run a loader much you already know it would be pretty much useless to have to move your hand off the main control lever to use another function, rather be able to run the grapple with my fingers while curling the bucket or moving the chasis up or down.
Cheers!
