All, while I love my JD 2320 it's a bit too tall to mow under some trees and fit a couple of gates. So, I still have my John Deere Sabre 2254, which has been a great garden tractor.
but now it is missing. I can start and drive around full RPM with no issue.
put on PTO and run full RPM and it back fires pretty bad. lower rpm to three quarter and drive slow and it does not miss.
below is list of things JD dealer did to check it, they sent it home thinking they fixed it, but I still have same issues?
anybody have any ideas what it could be?
Found engine to start missing when hot. Put spark tester on
both sides of engine and engine had spark at all times.
Checked compression left side was 160 PSI, and right side
was 155 PSI. Preformed leak down test on left side of engine
and it had 0% leak. Removed left side valve cover and
inspected valves. Valves and push rods where ok, adjusted
valves to specs. Turned engine over by hand to and valves
where not sticking. Removed right side valve cover and
inspected valves. Valves and push rods looked ok, adjusted
valves to specs. Installed new valve cover gaskets and
installed covers back onto engine. Installed new spark
plugs and started and test ran. Engine still would spit and
sputter when it gets hot. Removed engine shroud and started
engine and sprayed ether around intake gaskets. Engine
appeared that it did not have any intake leaks. Removed
flywheel key and inspected and it was ok. Test mowed with
mower for about fifteen to twenty minutes and it worked
fine.
