I have been trying to learn more about biodiesel and veggie oil. I have read that in order to run on unprocessed veggie oil, a separate heated tank and filter system is needed. What would happen if you poured some veggie oil straight into the fuel tank? Just filter clogging or anything more serious? Another question about veggie oil- since a separate tank and I assume a more porous filter is needed, does the veggie oil filter allow particles through that could clog anything? If say a batch of fryer oil was attained, how is it pre cleaned before use?

I have been burning processed vegetable oil in my tractor for the last month. My partner and I set up a small processing set up and yield almost 37 gallons of good diesel from each 40 gallon batch we use. I have read about using straight veggie oil, but the process for us is so simple we chose to make it into good fuel. We are now setting up to pay the motor fuel tax on our fuel and burn it in our trucks. That would be a ford diesel and a dodge diesel. The most problem you should have is filters. It is fun running of fuel which costs us $.63 per gallon.

If you want to experience making biodiesel without any big expense google "kitchen biodiesel" there are articles on how to make it in a 2 liter bottle using drain cleaner and gas line anti-freeze.
After doing it this way if you are handy you should be able to build your own processer. It's not that difficult once you do it in a small amount and see the process.
