I used my tractor to get rich top soil from the farm, and filled some new boxes with the new soil. Growth in the garden is great....squash, beans and fried green tomatoes this weekend.

Always nice to go out to the garden and get those tasty fresh vegetables.
See you are keeping the weeds in the dark, LOL, or are you growing mushrooms under that plastic. I'm sure our veggies will be ready soon, they are getting a good dose of rain today.

I just don't seem to find time anymore to pluck the weeds. So the black preen product works fairly well. Some of it is on its third year, so I felt OK buying a new roll since I get more than one year out of it. And those weeds do grow.

I still have some spots where hands and knees will be the only way to get rid of the weeds.

We have eaten green beans and squash during this last week, and will have more this weekend when some of my family visits. Will try to get my grandsons to eat some squash.

A very nice looking garden. The heat isn't effecting you there?

Thanks. We have had some HOT days, but the night temps have continued to cool things off a bit. And this weekend the rains have cooled it off considerably. Here's my pickin' from Sat morning. Not buckets like your picture showed, but some good eating nevertheless

Nice! We have a good 45 days to go before we harvest I'd say. MMMMM, looks good.

How are your tomato plants "on the water" doing?

We found our grandkids really go for fried squash. Coated in cornmeal like okra and fried. Of course anything is good fried. I tricked them into trying a beet last year. We were out in the garden and I pulled a couple of beets and peeled them. The kids were fascinated by the color, so I gave each of them one and they ate them to the stem. If I'd told them they were beets they'd probably have turned up their noses.

They are doing pretty good. Not sure how long til I get a ripe one. My son's family is coming from Virginia on Father's day. They are hoping for right tomatoes by then

Nice looking vegetables  in your pics. Like jimmyj we have to wait a few more weeks. :( Our strawberries are about 2-3 weeks behind. Had a fair amount of rain and overcast skies this May. :confused3:
