It's been a hot summer and it's not over yet! Anyone try one of those "bead type" seat covers? Do they help? Are they comfortable? Do they hurt the seat? Do they hold together?

Used to run a modified beaded auto seat cover on a motorcycle on cross county trips before they made them for motorcycles. It helped, held up well and worth it. It seemed that after about 700-800 miles in a day, it was still time to get off.

I used to work for Dupont - a very safety conscious company. I recall seeing a company issued safety warning against these wooden bead seats in cars. Supposedly a sudden decelaration would cause the driver to slide off the seat causing a serious lack of control of the vehicle.

Don't know how true this is but it sounds plausible.

Phil - That's certainly not desirable! Maybe I should consider the wire mesh type instead?

How about a recycler seat cover. Collects methane to be injected into the engine air intake. Dependending on diet and body mass can improve mileage by 5% /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Actually used to use the old wire type seat covers thingys in an old 56 chevy, worked pretty well, but then my back worked better back then too, so I can't say for sure how comofrtable they are, but a bit cooler.

Wouldn't a seat belt prevent this? That's what they're for aren't they, to keep you from thrusting forward?

And that is why they are being sued over not telling people about the hazards of Teflon? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Supposedly you slid off the seat. The little wooden beads acted like a factory conveyor system. So you slid down and off and under the belt. Again I do not the validity of this but I do recall it on a memo and at our monthly safety meetings.

I no longer work for DuPont but I still have a dog in this fight - I own stock in them. The class action lawsuit seeks 5 Billion dollars compensatory damages. I find it hard to believe when lawyers claim conspiracy. I think scientist by nature are seekers of truth. Hard for me to swallow that all of them involved in Teflon are lying cheating scandals seeking to fatten their pockets.

The other point is that Teflon is not considered unsafe but rather CHO a precursor compound is unsafe. No one disputes this. The contention is if there is residual CHO in the products sold to consumers. Unfortunately I do not believe science and rational thought will matter much now.
