VENTRAC (Briggs Vanguard) cuts out ...

Hi All

Perplexing problem ... my Ventrac 4200, powered by a Briggs Vanguard engine, cuts out without warning, sometimes after 20 minutes, sometimes after two hours ... fuel, fuel pump, safety interlocks don't seem to be the problem ... mystery ... has anyone had this problem with that engine?

When it happens, will it restart? Only crank over? Nothing at all? Check for spark and fuel when this happens...

I know you said fuel seems to not be the issue but I had a similar problem with a B&S Vanguard...check for water in the fuel tank...if there is any water at the bottom of the tank and movement sloshes enough to reach the intake line it will do what you describe...

Check your oil level, low oil level cutout.

Primary side wiring with insulation rubbed off against metal frame. Trace that seat cut off switch wire and others, coil primary and such. Use electronics cleaner to spray-out ignition switch. Intermittent problems require patience.
