Got the Verizon bundle about 3 years ago. Have since pared it down to just Internet. No tv no phone with them. They installed a battery backup that is mainly for the phone. Now the battery is dead and it is beeping. Remove battery it's still beeping. They say it's my responsibility and want $45 for it. I only want to shut the beeping off and don't want to pay for that. Anyone dealt with this? Just looking for info before I go clipping wires.

One more reason to be unhappy with their gouging ways.

Do you have a picture of the battery? Do you have a Battery + store near you? They might have one.

Id be very careful about messing with their equipment. No verizon here, so im not sure if they or the homeowner owns the equipment, but if you do something to their modem, and they own it, you could be looking at a massive bill when you cancel their service. You think the charges for batteries are crazy, mom once returned a digital cable box without the remote. IIRC the remote alone was something like $80. What they think stuff is worth has no basis in reality.

If the battery pack isnt commonly available, your probably going to have to eat the $45, at least for piece of mind.

or get a cheap replacement battery for now, save the old one and if you cancell all you have to do is re-install the old dead battery.

Reminds me about the keyless entry system on my F350. Its the kind with the 5 numbers on a keypad of the door. The battery is dying, so i go to ford parts store to get a new battery. ...
'
$185.00

thats right. it appears that ford doesnt have a replacement $3 batt for it so they want me to replace the entire keypad. its a 2004/2005 f350 by the way.

im going to open it up and hit the battery store in town.... batteriesplus

I did a quick search and I think one can be had for $30. It has a silence button but it only last 2 days and it is in the cellar. Too many things going on before christmas. I'll do a better search next week. There is also a batteries unlimited on my way to work. I think you are right about leaving their equipment alone.

If you are just doing internet with them do you really need their battery backup? You should be able to just unplug the UPS and plug the FIOS thing in the wall. One of my accounts received a UPS from ATT UVerse. It is just a UPS, nothing special that makes the UVerse work. It is just to provide power to the adapter so their phone can work with a power outage.

Are there any surplus stores in your area?

I cant tell the dimensions from the pic, but Princess Auto had the same brand (and similar size) batteries as surplus... Cheap. They were time expired from medical equipment.

try a 9 volt battery to supress alarm a 9 volt battery will keep the memory on car radios. The original battery is 12 volt. A 12 volt battery tender from harbor frieght will do it too just wire it to the battery connections $5.00 on sale

Geez that is a simple 12 volt 7ah gel cell. Every emergency exit light in the nation has one in it... the Amazon price is a good one.
